Do you remember my blog post from last month, where fellow blogger Tickety-boo and I were busy reviewing yarn with other local knitters? It was all a bit hush-hush, but now I can reveal that we were knitting for a feature in this month's Knit Now magazine. Our friend Sunie is the proprietress of Bluestocking Wool & Yarn shop in Cainscross, Gloucestershire, and she invited us and other knitter friends to join her in reviewing new yarns by Rowan, Adriafil, Manos del Uruguay, Sirdar and King Cole.
As you can imagine we were all very excited and nearly ended up doing far more chatting than knitting, until Sunie had to rein us in and remind us that we were there to knit not natter! In the above photo we were all trying to look 'natural', but as you can see there was a lot of sniggering going on and lewd comments about grabbing balls - of wool that is!
We all tried out each of the yarns, scoring their various aspects and were also assigned to knit up samples to be photographed for the magazine; my sample was for the King Cole 'Opium' yarn.
If you own a wool shop or a part of a knitting group, I can cetainly recommend you getting involved in a project like this. Not only did we have a sneaky peak at yarn yet to be launched and have fun at the same time, but it also promotes our local independent wool shop, which is very cool indeed.
